Annapolis is located in central Maryland on the south bank of the Severn River, near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. It is 27 miles south-southeast of Baltimore and 27 miles east of Washington, D.C. The lowest land in Annapolis is near sea level at the City Dock, and the level climbs to 92 feet between Bay Ridge Avenue and Forest Drive. Excluding the U.S. Naval Academy, the city has 17 miles of waterfront.
Annapolis has a temperate mid-latitude climate with warm, humid summers and mild winters. The weather during spring and autumn is generally pleasant. There are no pronounced wet and dry seasons, but summer often bring sudden heavy showers, damaging winds, and lightning. Breezes from the Chesapeake Bay and nearby creeks moderate the city's temperature. Regional rainfall averages slightly more than 39 inches annually, while snowfall averages below 15 inches per year.

The average temperature of Annapolis almost stays the same level as US, daily highest temperature is mainly less than the US average temperature, while daily lowest number is lower than the average, it can be concluded that in winter, this city must be very cold.

The amount of precipitation in Annapolis is a little bit higher than the average figure in US, especially in summer time, it can be summarized that this city has enough rainfall during a year especially in summer.

The humidity in the morning ranges from 73% to 84%, the figure in summer is highest, while in the afternoon, the figure is between 49% and 58%, and winter afternoon has highest humidity. The humidity is almost the same level with US average.

In summer time, sunshine is the most abundant, but much lower than the US average, in winter, it does not decrease a lot. Annapolis is not a city with enough sunshine in US.

Overall, the weather in Annapolis is not bad, overcast day accounts for least in each month, the proportion of partly cloudy days are the most, also precipitation days in summer is much more than other seasons.
